Brief description of workshop:
This workshop will focus on basic sewing skills through the creation of mini projects such as t-shirt bags, cross-stitching, and working with conductive thread. Each Monday, the participants will have a take-home project, and by the end of the month they will have experienced:
sewing by hand and by machine
building a basic circuit
upcycling materials for re-use.
All materials will be provided, as well as water and a light snack. This workshop is designed to introduce participants to sewing and stitching as a precursor to Wearable Technology courses that will be offered later in the fall
Past workshops:
#MAKE Spring: Offered in partnership with artist Lefty Smudges, this multi-week workshop brought adult makers together to learn how to make paper from scratch, make seed-infused paper that will sprout into plants, and learn how to make hand-crafted Mother's Day cards. Check out some pictures for the class below.
MakerBus After School Program: This 8-week program offer children ages 8-10 after school classes that explored the maker movement. We built art bots, designed elaborate April Fools Day pranks, learned how to pick locks, and much more. Check out some of our favourite memories from this program in the pictures below.
